Director of Wholesale Operations Doug Hitz is responsible for strategic planning and policy development related to PLCB wholesale operations, as well as successful management and oversight of wholesale accounts including grocery and convenience store chains obtaining wine from the PLCB for retail resale. Additionally, Doug oversees the PLCB’s consumer relations customer service functions.
Prior to being named Director of Wholesale Operations in October 2016, Doug, a Certified Supply Chain Professional, served as director of the Bureau of Planning & Procurement within the Office of Supply Chain. There, he was instrumental in implementing a vendor-managed inventory program and directed product forecasting, purchasing, and replenishment among a network of 300+ vendors, three distribution centers, and more than 600 Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores. Doug’s previous positions with the PLCB include store replenishment manager, where he stabilized and improved business processes and technology, and change management lead. Prior to working for the commonwealth, Doug worked in customer service and sales.
In addition to his CSCP status, Doug is a member of The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals and The American Production and Inventory Control Society. He earned his master’s degree from Shippensburg University and his undergraduate degree at Millersville University.
Doug and his wife live in Susquehanna Township, where they raise their teenage daughter.
